HIGHLAND DRIVE PARK REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
A new parking lot will be constructed in the area surrounding the existing park shelter during the spring/summer of 2023. The parking lot will replace the old playground, which was directly adjacent to the shelter -- The playground will remain closed to the public for safety purposes until construction begins and all of the equipment is removed. A new playground will be constructed further along the paved trail in the park (the estimated completion date is the summer/fall of 2023). Click here to view the concept design for the new playground.
Until construction is completed, the shelter will not be available to reserve/rent. However, the shelter will still be available to use at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis -- This means that the shelter bathrooms will NOT be unlocked and the shelter will remain open to the general public for use. The bathrooms located at the concession stand building will be unlocked and available for use during regular park hours.
All trails and green space will remain open and available during regular park hours.
PARK FEATURES
Walking Trail
The paved walking trail at Highland Drive Park provides parkgoers the ability to enjoy a walk around our soccer fields as well through a small section of woods. The trail as a whole equals 1 mile in length. The outer loop of the trail is 3/4 of a mile, while the inner loop around one of the soccer fields is 1/4 of a mile. Visitors may walk, jog or ride their bikes on the mile-long track -- No motorized vehicles, please! While strolling along the trail, park visitors may also enjoy reading a story displayed in the Lincoln County Public Library Story Walk. The Story Walk can be found along the outer loop of the trail near the picnic shelter and features a short children's story, which changes seasonally.
