Betty G. Ross Park, built in the 1970s, is home to the Lentz Recreation Center, a community pool, the River Launch, an 18-hole disc golf course, and many other awesome features! The 35 acre park is situated along the banks of the South Fork River, and serves as the headquarters for the City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation Department. Covered Picnic Shelter

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING SHELTER RESERVATION REQUESTS FOR THE 2022 CALENDAR YEAR (April 1 - October 30, some dates may be excluded). To submit a shelter reservation request, and to view the shelter availability calendar, please CLICK HERE! To submit a shelter reservation request, you will be required to create a CivicRec account (if you have not already done so). When the shelter is not reserved, it will remain on a first-come, first-served basis. (This means that the shelter bathrooms will NOT be unlocked for your use and the shelter will remain open to the general public for use.)

Our covered picnic shelter is available to rent for birthday parties, reunions, as well as other events. The shelter is available for rent from April - October. From November-March the shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Although you are not required to rent the shelter to use it, it is highly recommended when you are planning an important event. When the shelter is not reserved it is available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to guarantee the shelter will be available for you to use at a particular time, we HIGHLY suggest making your reservation as far in advance as possible. The cost to rent is as follows:

OUTDOOR BASKETBALL AND TENNIS COURTS

We have a full court outdoor basketball court.  You may come into the recreation lobby and rent a basketball to go outside and shoot hoops.  You must present a valid city ID to rent a basketball.  We also have 2 regulation size tennis courts.  We do not offer any equipment for tennis.  You must bring your own.  

***NO SOCCER IS ALLOWED ON EITHER OUTDOOR COURT***

18 HOLE DISC GOLF COURSE

The recreation department is fortunate enough to now have and 18 hold disc golf course that runs from the main entrance all the way around to the back of the park.  Until the last couple of years we only had room for a 9 hole disc golf course.  Volunteers from the area took on a major project by removing dead and fallen trees as well as clearing out the underbrush to make room for 9 new holes.  The expansion of our disc golf course now incorporates most of what used to be the nature trail.  Discs are available in the recreation office to rent.  There is NO CHARGE to play disc golf.

PICNIC AREA AND PLAYGROUND

Betty G. Ross Park has a very large picnic area with a small playground covered under the canopy of the trees.  There are picnic tables on cement slabs that park visitors can use to have a birthday party, a small get together with friends or family or just a small relaxing picnic.  Along with the picnic area is a small playground equipped with a slide, swings and climbing dome.  There is no fee to rent a space.  It is first come, first serve.
